15 Skin Care Myths - Myth #1: Chocolate Makes Me Break Out
As is the case with much conventional wisdom, there are all kinds of myths about skin care that have been embraced and passed down from mothers to their kids for years. If you are unhappy with something about your skin, it may be a good idea to consult a doctor rather than ask your family or run to the nearest Internet site. When I was young, I had problems with acne and pimples. No teenager enjoys the experience of her face being covered by red, unattractive bumps. I came across all kinds of advice on how to improve my complexion from steaming my face over hot tea to eating less sugar and cutting chocolate completely out of my diet.
My skin and complexion continued to frustrate me into my adult life. I was afraid that I would need to start using an anti-wrinkle cream before I ever got finished with acne. Finally, my skin cleared up pretty well when I was in my mid-20s. It was only after my skin improved that I discovered that my acne was not caused by anything I was eating. This would have been nice to know when I was purposely saying no to my favorite snack of chocolate chip cookies simply because I thought they would make me break out.
I can imagine how this belief got started. Sometimes when you eat food that is greasy, your skin starts to feel a little greasy. It may be logical to conclude that the oil from the fatty food you are eating is being absorbed into your skin and coming out through your pores only to clog them up and produce those nasty, inflamed pimples. However, acne is actually caused by cells that are shed off of the skin, stick together and plug pores. Oil is stopped up underneath the cells and bacteria go to town in this environment, which is what causes your pimples to grow and become red and yucky.
Greasy foods may also be conventionally linked to acne because a highly stressful life actually does induce more oil production and more acne. People who are stressed out often like to comfort themselves by indulging in chocolate, french fries and other greasy, fatty foods. Thus, they might conclude that the food caused their complexion to erupt, but in actuality it was the stress, which simultaneously motivated them to eat those foods.
Interestingly enough, there have been studies done that link an increased consumption of milk to acne outbreaks in teenagers. Milk is usually not considered a junk food and you will rarely get advice from someone on the street that you should stop drinking milk in order to improve your skin. Looks like your nosy neighbor got it wrong. Instead of cutting out the chocolate chip cookies, you need to cut back on the milk that you drink along with them.
Of course, it is generally better for your health to eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Milk is usually considered a healthy food because it provides calcium and protein. If you decide to cut milk out of your diet in order to clear up your skin, be sure to take a calcium supplement to compensate. If your complexion is not quite as clear as you would like, it will certainly not hurt anything to cut some of the junk food out of your diet. However, don't feel like you need to cut chocolate, milk, french fries or sweet and sour pork out of your diet completely. The idea of enjoying everything in moderation is one piece of conventional wisdom that applies to your health and improving your complexion.

Homemade Anti-Wrinkle Creams That are Affordable
The ordinary person is constantly looking in the mirror. They are looking at their make-up, getting ready for work, or looking at their facial features in the mirror in their car or the mirror in the bathroom. The beauty industry has various types of age defying cosmetics that are outrageously priced. There are a lot of people that try different home remedies to save on money. When a home remedy comes to mind, it usually has some type of fruit in the recipe because of the natural qualities that organic fruits and vegetables do to help the skin and body. People are hoping for younger-looking skin without the age lines as well as reduce wrinkles that can be resolved quickly without spending hundreds of dollars just for 4 ounces of anti-wrinkle cream.
On the market there are facial masks that were created to reduce aging in the skin but it takes time to show any type of change. There are numerous types of food that can be used at home as anti-wrinkle cream. Some of the foods are bananas, coconut oil, papaya, honey, and juice of unripe pineapples. The bananas and the papaya need to be mashed before applying. Coconut oil, honey and the juice of a green pineapple are applied directly to the whole face. Any of these can be used on your face for fifteen to thirty minutes. The coconut oil needs to be massaged in and left on the skin over night and then washed off in the morning when getting ready to go to work or just showering. After applying these foods separately it should help make the skin smooth and soft to the touch and minimize the fine lines around the eyes, forehead, and the neck. So next time there is an urge to put on some wrinkle cream, just open up the refrigerator and see what is available. There are many more options out there, but this is just a handful to choose from.
To help keep the skin soft and clear of dry flaky skin, apply miracle whip as long as two months from the first application. This will help revive the life of the skin and bring out the natural glow that has been missing. To replace moisture into the skin on your face, mix 2 Tablespoons of fine ground oatmeal and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Add a little water at a time to make a consistency of peanut butter, and place on your whole face. Once it is coated, massage into the skin to help clear your skin’s pores. Then rinse your face with warm water and blot with a towel to dry. Now your skin should feel refreshed.
